Hi,

Thanks for contacting me.

I am glad that you set up the Sitefinity CMS. So I can better assist you, what error code (if any) are you receiving? When you install Sitefinity, you should create a database on your instance of SQL Express and attach it to the server (so don't choose SQL Express, choose SQL 2005). Then, go into SQL Express Management Studio and run the scripts on it. When you visit the site, it should be http://localhost/[VirtualDirectoryName]/Catalog.aspx.

You could run the project without the CMS too. You could set up security on another site using the ASP.NET Configuration Manager. This site will tell you more about security:

http://www.asp.net/learn/security-videos/

Then, just create a database on your SQL Server Express using the Management Studio tool, run the database scripts and copy the files over. Furthermore, you can get those install scripts from the site in my instructions. Here is a link about using SQL Server Management Studio:

http://www.asp.net/LEARN/sql-videos/video-111.aspx

www.asp.net is one of the best sites for learning about ASP.NET, so I would suggest watching those videos to get a good grasp on the technology.

Let me know if you get stuck.

hi Joe,

thank you for your reply. I managed to install ecommerce without cms...it runs great.

Only question that i have is, if i try to install it on sitefinity cms, should i copy the files in the sitefinity folder or the folder above?
In your manual it says  http://localhost/[VirtualDirectoryName]/sitefinity/Catalog.aspx.

Can i have ecommerce: http://localhost/[VirtualDirectoryName]/Catalog.aspx. and cms in http://localhost/[VirtualDirectory]/sitefinity/ ??

Im checking the asp.net site, and hopefully will learn soon enough :))

thanks again....

Hi,

I am glad that you got everything working.

If you install Sitefinity CMS and my project, then you should copy all of the files (except for the web.config) into your project. In my documentation, I mention the lines of the Web.config that need to be added  (the profile ones and the session state one). You copy all of the files to the root directory of the Sitefinity project, so the LINQControls, Sitefinity and App_Code folders are in the same directory:

App_Code
LinqControls
Sitefinity

I would recommend the first URL instead of placing everything in the Sitefinity folder, since some of those pages are supposed to exist in certain places. You could put it in the Sitefinity folder, but be prepared to make changes to the code.

I hope that I have clearly answered your question. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
